If you don’t live in the Shetlands, but are planning a visit or wanting to remind yourself of wonderful times had in the Shetlands, do take a look at the webcams on the Visit Shetland website -

I had the wonderful experience of watching the live stream of the Up Helly Aa festival a couple of days ago. I was prompted to watch by a friend – she and I had a fabulous holiday in the Shetlands just a few years ago.

The Up Helly Aa video stream was a special one for the event. I’m sure it will be available again next year.

On a daily basis you can view the webcams around the islands. The Sumburgh Airport webcam is great fun and if you watch at the right time you can planes arriving or landing. Below is a screenshot from the webcam:

Other webcams are located around the area, including Lerwick town centre and harbour and one on the island of Fetlar.
